Gifting

There's a special feeling to a quilt made in secret for someone you love. All the time you're working on it, you're thinking about them, sending prayers their way and holding them in your heart as you choose a pattern, select colors, cut out the fabrics and piece the blocks. This quilt was just that sort of gift.

I used fabrics from my stash and Su's, pieces she'd given me to add to my scrap bag.

Last night I gave Su the Love Ring - Bowtie... to give to her grandson, born earlier this year. When she opened the box, her eyes were lit from within.

There's no greater gift you can give a quilter, than a quilt, for they know all that making one means.

It turned out just wonderfully! I love the red/white combo, as always, and using shared fabric makes it even better. I think you hit the nail on the head in saying that another quilter truly understands the "doing" of the gift. It's certainly something that money can't buy.
I've so pleased that you decided to try this old favorite of mine *VBS* And thanks for letting me peek over your shoulder as you made it.
I think this quilts gave to both quilters, as well as that precious grandchild. Big hugs for a happy holiday, Finn

Hi Leslie!
Beautiful quilt! Love the multi reds. That is really a neat pattern. --It's traditional, but with a contemporary feel to it, too.

The quilting is gorgeous, also!

Lucky little grandson.

Oh, goodie, I saw you had a new post when I went to bloglines. Can't wait until you have more quilts to post. They are beautiful. This one really is a beautiful pallet of reds and creams. Can't wait until I have some time to quilt on my own stuff. Seeing your fabric all cut and laid out on your mat is inspiring. That's when I get most excited... ready to press the petal and make the machine sing.
