President's Block

Shh... it's a secret for the out going Guild president.

She likes clear colors so I got a chance to stash dive for something bright. I'm mostly a blue-green quilter but I sure have been enjoying playing with other colors. And it was a welcome change from the pastels in my Ocean Wave blocks.

Baby Love Two

Cayson Jacob is here. Born on his Momma's birthday, what a gift! We had a quick visit last weekend and got some baby love. So far he's Mr. Mellow.

And I got to present his baby quilt, though it's a little large perhaps. I figure he'll grow into it...

Color Check

Making more Ocean Wave blocks, mixing and matching contemporary prints, retro and original prints from the 1930's. Evey once in awhile I put a batch of them on the design wall to see if they mesh. I want a nice balance of color, value and print.

Looks good from here. The colors in the lower picture are truer to the original. I've thought about how it's going to be quilted. Here's an option.

Then again, simple parallel lines would let the patchwork shine. Oh well, I have time to think that over. ;)

On the Threshold

I made DS1's favorite childhood quilt again, an adult nap size. It's a Radiant Nine Patch which I call On the Threshold. As a small boy he used to call his quilt "Mr. Blanket", so when he saw this, he laughed and said, "Mr. Blanket 2.0!" I thought it was cute; spoken like a true programmer.

You can see the quilting better on the back
Back and hanging sleeve. This time I used self fabric, almost invisible.
I talked to *several* professional long-arm quilters about having this done. I'd explain what I wanted on the phone, send them photos in an email and one after another said no thank you. One said, "It's a beautiful quilt and a great concept; but I don't want to work that hard." *shrug*

Some times you just gotta get in there and do it yourself. So I did, and it brought my dream to life.

"I will walk out of the darkness
And I'll walk into the light
And I'll sing the song of ages
And the dawn will end the night."

Evan Turns Two

It was nearly a hundred at the park that day, but we still had a fun BBQ and party for our grandson.

Let's get this party started!

Cooling off in the melted ice, yum!

And there was a quilt gifted.

It's been too hot for him to sleep under it, but I know it'll get lots of use now that he's in a toddler bed.

Baby Shrek

Our second grandson is due any day now. I thought it was a great excuse to try this pattern.

What a hoot! I can't wait to see it on him. Daddy Bear's head is too broad, but you get the idea.
